As England reduced Australia at tea in their drive to get a victory in the day four of the fifth Test at The Oval into 167-5 steve Smith failed to maneuver for the first time at the Ashes this summer.

Nevertheless, the stubborn Wade – who smashed Leach for three bounds in a row one over prior to completing a 65-ball fifth Evaluation fifty – and skipper Tim Paine (10no) could help Australia take the game into Monday.
